We made this itinerary in a way that enables you to explore as many different landscapes and various MTB trails as possible in one week.

A local guide with lots of mountain biking experience will take you to the best locations around Slovenia, sometimes even a little bit over the Austrian and Italian borders. He knows the trails you will be zooming down like the back of his hand and will make sure you'll have an enjoyable experience adapted to your abilities. Some of the trails in bike parks will be lift-accessed by gondola or by van, while some of the wilder trails will be tackled on your own steam. It will be a week of guaranteed enjoyment and fun, accompanied by great views.

Get your bikes ready for an action-filled week of testing your biking skills on all the must-do downhill trails when visiting Slovenia. Join us on the ultimate single trail MTB holiday in Slovenia!

Top Places You’ll See

From natural wonders to authentic local culture, the route is packed with memorable sights—these are our absolute favorites.

Soca river, Bovec Slovenia

Soča Valley

The Soča Valley is famous for the emerald color of the Soča River, which flows through deep gorges and past waterfalls. The area is popular for outdoor sports like rafting, kayaking, and hiking, and features an abundance of natural highlights, among others: the Great Soča & Tolmin Gorges, and stunning waterfalls like Virje, Kozjak and Slovenia’s highest - Boka. It is also a site of major World War I battles, remembered through a variety of museums and the Walk of Peace trail.

Golovec

Golovec Hill rises right next to Ljubljana and is covered by a dense forest crisscrossed with trails. It is one of the city’s most popular areas for mountain biking, with a maintained trail center offering downhill and enduro routes. The hill also hosts an astronomical observatory that has been operating since 1959.

Krvavec

Kočevje forest info card

Kočevski gozd (forest) is the largest primeval forest in Slovenia, covering around 500 square kilometers. The area is home to rare wildlife, including brown bears, wolves, and lynxes, making it one of the most important biodiversity reserves in Europe. Visitors can explore marked trails, guided bear-watching tours, and learn about the area’s history as a former restricted military zone during the Cold War.

Monte Matajur

Matajur

Rising 1,641 m on the border of Slovenia and Italy, Mount Matajur offers sweeping views across the Soča Valley, the Julian Alps, and all the way to the Adriatic Sea on clear days. Its grassy slopes and open summit have long served as alpine pastures, while World War I left historic trails and memorials from the Isonzo Front. Today it’s a beloved cycling and panoramic viewpoint, combining gentle lower roads with a challenging final climb and a unique vantage point over two countries.

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer road cycling, trekking cycling and mountain biking holidays.

Our road cycling holidays are suitable for avid road cycling enthusiasts whose endurance is high enough to withstand multiple long cycling days in a row.

Our trekking cycling holidays are suitable for anyone, as the stages are short enough for most people, and the terrain is not technical — mostly tarmac and gravel. They will still be enjoyed most by people who cycle occasionally and feel comfortable with multiple days in a row on the saddle and some moderate climbing. For those looking for more leisurely cycling holidays, we offer an e-bike option.

Our e-MTB holidays are suitable for most people comfortable on a mountain bike who are fine with some rougher gravel roads and steeper hills, made easier with electric assistance. However, the single trails MTB holidays are suitable mostly for avid mountain bikers, as they tackle technical trails and fast descents, but are very adjustable to your skills and style of riding.

On our guided tours, you will have professional local guides. Our guides will make sure that you will have expert guidance combined with great fun and a memorable experience.

We are always looking for the perfect fit for you. We use a few different accommodation providers that fit our standards but they are subjected to availability, especially in the high season. We can also adjust the holiday, keeping in mind your preferences and budget and can always find a more suitable solution for your taste.

Our tours can be adapted to any bike type, whether road, gravel, or mountain bike. We are in constant communication with you to find the optimal conditions for your cycling holidays in Slovenia.

The most versatile option is a gravel bike, even if you are coming on a road cycling holiday. It does not really affect your road performance while allowing you to take some scenic backroads that can be in a slightly worse state than the main ones. A gravel bike is usually more comfortable as well.

In any way, Slovenia is a very diverse country and there is something for every cyclist. Whichever bike you choose, we will find the perfect route for you to take on your cycling holidays.

If you are not bringing your own bike and equipment, we can certainly arrange that for you. We have a wide selection of bikes at our disposal and we will choose the ones that best fit your tour. All we need from you is your usual bike size and any other relevant information or preferences so we can make sure you will be comfortable throughout your trip.

Bike rentals include the bike that has been agreed upon, delivery prior to and pickup after your tour. Additional equipment is also included: helmet, an extra chain, basic repair kit and pedals if necessary.

We recommend booking as early as possible. Most of our tours run through very touristy places where accommodation is limited. Most of the great places start getting booked for summer before spring.

It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note that the places where we stop for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind.

I found this place with a simple Google search, and I never could’ve expected the custom experience I received. They provided options to help my husband and I hone in on exactly what we wanted to do for our honeymoon. We had perfectly curated GPS-lead rides all across the country, they booked all of our hotels, and planned all of our transportation. Every place that we went was so beautiful. I’m so grateful that we found this company to help us plan our honeymoon, couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Highly recommend the bike trip from Bled to Pula. It was well planned. We did a small group self-supported. Big fun. Bikes, hotels, route selection and communication with the company was great.

We recently completed the cycling tour from Bled to Piran with Slovenia Cycling Holidays. All the organising and running of the tour was excellent. We had excellent communication with Anna during the planning and also excellent and very helpful advice during the trip from Timotej We were unlucky on the final day to strike severe thunderstorms which made the day very difficult and less enjoyable. The weather stopped us enjoying the wonderful scenery into Piran. Timotej offered to transport us, but we wished to complete the ride. We can wholeheartedly recommend this Company if you wish a good cycling adventure with very good accommodation along the way. Thanks Anja and Timothy

So last minute holiday and the team at Slovenia Cycling managed to turn around a bespoke package really quickly in peak tourist season! The cycle routes are great and easy to follow whilst the trip app has all the details on hotels and transfers whilst the things to see and places to eat was invaluable. Team are super responsive when you have questions which are handled quickly on Whats App. Will definitely use them again.

Slovenia Cycling Holidays arranged a custom itinerary for my friends and I to do an 8 day cycling trip (10 nights of lodging) around the Julian Alps and to the coast at Piran. Their planning made it really easy for us to arrive to Slovenia with all details of our trip already figured out. They booked our lodging, provided luggage transfers, and gave us daily GPS files for the cycling route every day which made for an amazing trip! I'd definitely recommend this company for your next cycling trip you do in Slovenia or other parts of Europe!
