Legendary Dolomites and Slovenia Road Challenge

Your first day begins with a challenging climb up to the high-altitude pastures of Pokljuka, where dense forests and alpine meadows offer breathtaking views. From there, you will descend towards the tranquil Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest glacial lake. The mix of ascents and descents will give your legs a proper warm-up as you ride past alpine chalets and vast pastures. The route continues along the Sava Bohinjka river, following a dedicated cycling path that ensures a peaceful ride back to Bled.

Today, you’ll ride through the idyllic Radovna Valley, passing rolling meadows and secluded villages framed by the dramatic peaks of Triglav National Park. A stop at the Peričnik Waterfall will offer a refreshing break and a chance to witness one of Slovenia’s most iconic cascades. The route concludes in Kranjska Gora, a vibrant alpine town known for its alpine scenery and welcoming ambiance. You can choose to stay overnight in Kranjska Gora or return to Bled via shuttle.

We have two options prepared for you to choose from. The first route begins in Bled and takes you through rolling hills and traditional Slovenian villages, offering a mix of cultural and natural highlights. The climb to Jamnik rewards you with sweeping views over the valleys below, a sight that will make the effort worthwhile. Afterward, the ride back to Bled follows a varied terrain that will challenge your endurance while rewarding you with scenic vistas.The second option is for those seeking an epic alpine challenge. Starting in Kranjska Gora, you will ascend the Vršič Pass, Slovenia’s highest mountain pass, with its serpentine roads and awe-inspiring views. From there, the route continues to Mangart, one of the most iconic climbs in the region, before descending through the stunning Predel Pass and riding back to Kranjska Gora.

Today, you will transfer to Italy to begin the Dolomites portion of the tour. The journey takes approximately 4 hours and covers a distance of around 220–250 km, depending on traffic and road conditions. Depending on availability, your accommodations will be in either Arabba or Corvara, two villages nestled amidst the majestic peaks of the Dolomites. The transfer offers a chance to relax and prepare for the challenging routes ahead. Along the way, you’ll witness a gradual transformation of landscapes, with jagged mountain ridges replacing the rolling hills of Slovenia.

You’re in for a must-do for any road cyclist: tackling the renowned Sella Ronda loop! The route takes you through four iconic mountain passes – Pordoi, Sella, Gardena, and Campolongo – offering spectacular views at every turn. The ascents are steady yet challenging, with smooth roads that make the climbs a pleasure. Each summit provides an opportunity to take in panoramic vistas of the Dolomites' rugged peaks as you pedal your way through breathtaking terrain.

Today, you will traverse a route that combines history, culture, and nature, with the centerpiece being the Passo Falzarego. Along the way, quaint villages like La Villa and San Clascian provide perfect spots for a brief rest. The challenging climb to Passo Valparola and Falzarego is rewarded with views of towering cliffs and serene valleys. Descending through Arabba back to Corvara, you will experience a day rich in cycling and incredible views.

The final cycling day takes you on a loop featuring the legendary Passo Giau, a climb revered for its steep gradients and incredible views. You will pass through charming villages like Colle Santa Lucia and Pocol, where traditional Dolomite culture is palpable. The descent towards Cernadoi offers a thrilling ride before circling back to Andraz.

After an epic week conquering Slovenia’s alpine gems and the legendary climbs of the Dolomites—from Vršič Pass to the iconic Sella Ronda and Passo Giau—enjoy a relaxed final breakfast surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks in charming Arabba or Corvara. Take a last moment to soak in the breathtaking UNESCO-listed scenery, perhaps with a short stroll through the picturesque valleys, before heading home.
