Our road cycling holidays are suitable for avid road cycling enthusiasts whose endurance is high enough to withstand multiple long cycling days in a row.
Our trekking cycling holidays are suitable for anyone, as the stages are short enough for most people, and the terrain is not technical — mostly tarmac and gravel. They will still be enjoyed most by people who cycle occasionally and feel comfortable with multiple days in a row on the saddle and some moderate climbing. For those looking for more leisurely cycling holidays, we offer an e-bike option.
Our e-MTB holidays are suitable for most people comfortable on a mountain bike who are fine with some rougher gravel roads and steeper hills, made easier with electric assistance. However, the single trails MTB holidays are suitable mostly for avid mountain bikers, as they tackle technical trails and fast descents, but are very adjustable to your skills and style of riding.

The most versatile option is a gravel bike, even if you are coming on a road cycling holiday. It does not really affect your road performance while allowing you to take some scenic backroads that can be in a slightly worse state than the main ones. A gravel bike is usually more comfortable as well.
In any way, Slovenia is a very diverse country and there is something for every cyclist. Whichever bike you choose, we will find the perfect route for you to take on your cycling holidays.
If you are not bringing your own bike and equipment, we can certainly arrange that for you. We have a wide selection of bikes at our disposal and we will choose the ones that best fit your tour. All we need from you is your usual bike size and any other relevant information or preferences so we can make sure you will be comfortable throughout your trip.
We recommend booking as early as possible. Most of our tours run through very touristy places where accommodation is limited. Most of the great places start getting booked for summer before spring.
It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note that the places where we stop for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind.
If you want to, sure! We are well aware that some people love to stay in groups while others prefer some more alone time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all! As long as you respect the group timings and locations designated by your guide, please feel free to customizeyour itinerary and create your own adventure!
Depending on the tour, generally late spring (May) and early autumn (September) are the best times, summer is of course also always great and some of our holidays are also possible in winter! Read more about cycling seasons in Slovenia.
Most of the tours can be done even in light rain, as long as you dress accordingly. It is not unusual in the summer that there are afternoon thunderstorms, so early starts are advisable. If the weather looks really bad, we will try to adjust the tour or skip a stage with a shuttle.
Our one week tour of Slovenia with these 3 young local guides surpassed all expectations! We travelled from Bled through the Sovenian Alps all the way to to coastal seaside Piran, through villages , on backroads ….it felt like riding through a story book….a delightful surprise around every turn . Our guides took care of our every need: charming accommodations, snacks every day at fantastic off beat locations, mid-ride. We covered 250 km over 5 riding days. The one day we were rained out, they quickly pivoted, and we were able to visit a wonderful historical national museum, which informed us so much in terms of the history in the Soča valley…So the day became not a write off but an educational experience! It was quite special to know the history of the Soča valley as we journeyed through the region, seeing the incredible geographical diversity of this beautiful country on excellent quality e-bikes. Fair to say we hit a lot of problems courtesy of BA with rescheduled and diverted flights, lost bags, problems with our own bikes, returning rental bikes and more. Daja was simply amazing in helping us sort all of them out and was so accessible at all hours. She even managed to source and buy a forgotten Thru-axle and deliver it personally to our hotel, which is far and above any service i would reasonably expect. Thank you !!

The route planning in Slovenia was great but due to our decision to bring road bikes from the UK and the nature of the roads in Croatia, our second week was a bit tricky route wise and it would have been good to have had a discussion about this section beforehand. Transport arrangement and logistics were flawless.

We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday in Slovenia (two adults and a 13 year old) and I can highly recommend Slovenia Cycling Holidays for their excellent service and good value for money.
Nejc was very helpful from the start, replying quickly and creating our tailormade itinerary. We received great pre-trip information and files in the right format to use with our Garmin devices. The trip itself was perfect, cycling on a mix of offroad trails and quiet roads. The hotels were well chosen with comfortable, spacious rooms and welcoming and helpful staff who stored the bikes overnight.
The e-bikes themselves were brand new top-of-the range and ideal for the hilly terrain - meaning we were able to see more of the countryside and get off the beaten track.
Nejc continued to be on hand for any questions (messaging via WhatsApp). We were travelling in April and generally had lovely weather but on our last day, we had very heavy rain. Nejc was in contact first thing in the morning to check if we still wanted to cycle which we did. We finished early and we and the bikes were collected earlier than scheduled to avoid having to hang around in wet gear.
The scenery we cycled through from Ljubljana to Lake Bled was beautiful and the people we met were friendly and welcoming. We hope to return soon.

Europe Cycling Holidays organized a customized, self-guided road cycling trip for my husband and I from Ljubljana to the Julian Alps and ending in Piran in Slovenia. At the beginning of the organizing process, I used their ZOOM mtg option to ask a lot of questions and determine what we wanted e.g. hotels, room upgrades, routes, etc. With follow-up emails over the next few weeks, and fixing a few glitches that arose, we were excited for our 10-day trip. And we were NOT disappointed! Our trip was amazing. The rental bikes, hotels, GPX files, scheduled luggage transfers, detailed itinerary in an app (including restaurant suggestions, GPS profiles, bike shops en route, luggage pickups), etc. were all amazing. The country of Slovenia is incredibly beautiful and we enjoyed the challenges of the routes in the Alps, the serenity of Lake Bled, the spectacular scenery of Goriška Brda wine region, and everything in between. We had quick responses via WhatsApp from Customer Service for any issues we had during our trip e.g. organizing a van transfer on a day we decided not to ride due to a fall and bad weather. A very good travel agency who worked flexibly with me to develop our tailor-made holiday based on the hike and bike tour. Staff were always pleasant and responsive and patient with changing plans. Note this is not a bike holiday operator so, while they book hotels, taxis to move your luggage, bike hire and a guide for walking, they don't provide technical back up, a van or their own bikes customised for touring. We therefore had to ask a few questions about those small but essential things like where to leave luggage, when bikes would be delivered and where were our promised phone holders (essential as you will use your own phone for navigating). The hike and bike tour is a brilliant concept, the route was very good, hotels were all great, and the guide (see separate review on "Triglav Tours") amazing. Sadly, though, we did not receive the call on the rainy day (as another reviewer mentions) to make arrangements to get our luggage delivered faster after a short, but drenching, ride. It in fact came late, so we were stuck in a hotel room in Bled on a sunny afternoon with nothing but hotel bathrobes to wear! Our contact responded when we asked for help, but the proactivity mentioned by others was not present in our case.That said, the company clearly have well established links with excellent providers (some of them in fact different branches of themselves) and can be trusted to put everything in place and to respond quickly if an arrangement has fallen through. Recommended but, as their website mentions somewhere, a degree of self-reliance is required!

The quick summary: We had an amazing tour with this company and I highly recommend them. Details as follows: I worked with Klemen to set up a 16-day self-guided tour through Slovenia and Istria. I met with Klemen via video chat and explained what we had in mind in terms of ride terrain, miles per day, hotel types, etc…Klemen very quickly understood what I wanted and made great recommendations, notably to steer us towards renting gravel bikes which turned out to be the perfect call for this tour. We’d never done a multi-day tour, let alone self guided, so as the time came close for the trip, I was a little nervous about how things would go. Everything went very smoothly, and that is saying a lot considering what bad luck we had with the weather during our first week. The bikes we were rented were high quality and never let us down. The routes Klemen gave us on RideWithGPS were really nice and took us through a lot of villages and obscure roads we would have never found on our own. Klemen picked out hotels for us and then I reviewed with him and asked for a few changes (paying more to upgrade in some places) and I was happy with everything we ended up with. Of particular note was the support we got when we were struggling. My daughter came down with a cold and (as previously mentioned) the weather turned nasty. I asked Klemen if he could help us move our daughter and her bike when they were moving our luggage, and he got that sorted out for two different stages of the trip. Overall, I’m just so pleased with how things went. It was sad when we had to turn the bikes in and had no more adventures planned for us. I hope to come back and ride again in Slovenia. The scenery and people live up to the reputations. I am writing this kind of long review because before I booked with these guys I could not find very much info about them and I would like them to get credit for great work.

Our guide, Nejc, ensured our safety, and showed us his “backyard” so that we could understand the food, and the architectural and sustainable nature of Slovenia.
